General Dermatology

At Dartmouth Dermatology, we are trained to diagnose and manage a wide range of skin conditions, ranging from common issues like acne, eczema, and psoriasis to more complex disorders such as skin cancers, autoimmune diseases, and infectious diseases.

Our general dermatology services include the following key areas:

Diagnose and treat a variety of skin conditions, including but not limited to acne, dermatitis, eczema, fungal infections, warts, rosacea, and skin allergies.

Identify and treat various types of skin cancer, such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. Early detection and intervention are critical in managing these conditions.

Address issues related to hair and nails, including hair loss (alopecia), nail infections, and other abnormalities affecting the hair and nails.

Treat conditions such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and contact dermatitis fall under this category. We employ various treatment modalities to manage these chronic inflammatory conditions.

Diagnose and treat infectious diseases that affect the skin, such as viral, bacterial, and fungal infections. Examples include herpes, impetigo, cellulitis, and various types of fungal skin infections.

Manage autoimmune skin disorders, including lupus, dermatomyositis, and scleroderma, among others. These conditions often require a multidisciplinary approach and long-term management.

Also provide treatments for cosmetic concerns such as wrinkles, scars, and aging-related changes, using procedures like Botox, fillers, chemical peels, and laser therapy.

Dartmouth Dermatology uses a combination of clinical examination, medical history, and often diagnostic tests such as skin biopsies or allergy tests to accurately diagnose and develop treatment plans for our patients. We may prescribe topical or systemic medications, perform procedures such as cryotherapy, surgical excisions, or administer light-based therapies, depending on the nature and severity of the condition. It is important to us to educate our patients about proper skincare, sun protection, and the management of chronic skin conditions to promote overall skin health.
